Turns out if you go back to correct a now-defunct URL in a post, then the site software thinks its a new blogpost and sticks it on the top of the list, so let's update the words a little.

I wrote back then that, "In my home city there's like four or five different events going on that I know about, let alone all the stuff elsewhere in the world! Fantastic. I think it's starting to get the momentum it lacked in the 00's and will break through into the wider consciousness in the next few years... :)"

That was 2013 and since then we've seen people working to change the very poor mental health and physical health statistics for bi people and suchlike have been welcomed into the White House (though not by the asset currently occupying it!) Number 10 Downing Street and such places.

The September 23 date has become much better known with events in dozens of countries every year and even things during the peak of COVID.

We're still a long way from being equal in society, and in many places there are setbacks along the way, but heck we are getting there.

If you want more than sex hookups - which is what lots of people on this site want and I'm not knocking them - that community space stuff is out there and stronger than ever.
