how do you make a custom Avatar with my picture on my computer?

HOW DO YOU MAKE CUSTOM AVATAR WITH MY PICTURE ON MY COMPUTER?

The Avatar has a size limit: The maximum size of your custom image is 80 by 80 pixels or 19.5 KB which ever is smaller.

Step 1. Turn off your CAPS LOCK. Photos don't like it.
Step 2. Get a decent photo editing software. There are some freeware versions of sw that do this such as Picasa, Windows Live Photo Gallery, Paint.Net, GIMP.
Step 3. Take a decent picture of yourself. Move it to your PC. Make a copy of it so you are editing the copy and not the original.
Step 4. Edit the picture as you wish. Add effects and crop it to show what you want to show and what you don't want to show. I recommend that you crop the picture as SQUARE as you can get it.
Step 5. Find the option within your photo editing software to RESIZE your picture. You are going to reduce it to 80x80 pixels. View the information of the current picture you are going to use. Somewhere in the editing software it will tell you the picture size of the current object being edited. ie. If it is sized 960 x 960 pixels you will need to resize it to less than 10% of the size to get it to close to 80x80 pixels.
Step 6. How does it look? Don't like it, start over and re-edit the copy of the master again.

It will be trial and error until you get something you like.

Step 7. Upload your pic to your profile.

Done.
