I've traveled the world... and I've never even seen a bathhouse, let alone been to one - but I know they exist. I know what can go on in a bathhouse and I've heard of the many settings and other things a bathhouse can take and what rules can be involved and even if those rules are gentlemanly agreements and not so much written down, as such. I've been to a few. One in my hometown and a couple in Toronto. The ones in Toronto are much better. My experiences have been hit and miss. I can remember walking in once, paying for my locker, stripping down, ( I walk around nude with my towel over my shoulder ) walked around not seeing anything I liked and bit freaked at what I did see, then walking out within 10 min. I've been in bathhouses in a lot of cities cos I travel for work a fair bit (in non-COVID times). My favourite was a place in San Jose CA which I think has closed now.

In Toronto, Steamworks has the best facilities, but the crowd can sometimes be a little snooty. If the crowd is thin (I often go in the afternoon when I can get away), then there may not be a lot of action for silver dads like me.

Spa XS down the road has older facilities and an older, more accepting crowd I find. It's also next door to Oasis, which is a wet sex club for str8s and LGBTQ people too, where I've spent a lot of time with my wife; Oasis is also specifically very welcoming to trans people, which gay bathhouses often are not.
