Moving from a small town to a big city...opportunities?
Long boring story short-I may be making a move from my small town to a much bigger city after the first of the year. Part of me is thinking, this town is what I know, BUT from another standpoint, as shy as I am, I'm also trying to hype myself up on IF I do move (nothing set in stone, it can be my call) that a larger city would let me kind of start over and maybe not be a different person, but maybe be a little more free and I'm already thinking about how I could be closer to gay clubs etc. So can anyone offer any advice or reasoning that I could be making a great decision by moving? Thanks

Living near a very small town in a rural area myself, you would no doubt have more freedom and maybe not have to be as discrete like you would in an area where everybody knows everybody else.
When the wife and I did the lifestyle, on our profile we always listed ourselves as being from a larger, nearby town to help maintain our privacy from the local snoops and busybodies. There's other pro's to living in or close to a metropolitan area, but there are con's too, it really comes down to what you want....

kyguy: I have gone full circle on this.. when I was transitioning I left the small town I lived in and moved hundreds of miles to a big city.. now I live in a much smaller town again.. I am not sure how far away the bigger city you are considering moving to is but this is my advice.. if it is close enough,, take a few weekends and go stay there.. get a feel for the city.. check out the clubs!! Make friends there.. that is the best way to know.. friend there will make it so much easier.. go there and spend time,, hookup,, find sex there,, try to do all the things you would do living there.. then judge

The "big city" always offers a multitude of opportunities and you just gotta be willing to take advantage of them. Like Tight said, if you can go to your city of choice before moving there, go and get the feel of the place; find your way around and, yeah, check out clubs and other such places because sometimes, all you need to do is be seen by someone who is thinking about having sex with you; that might freak you out or make you paranoid, but just be as cool as you can and listen to what he's proposing and if it sounds like something you'd be interested in, well, it's decision time.
I hope your decision to move is for a reason other than being able to get with guys but if it is, okay.

Silver daddies has a travel section. So you can look for people that might want to meetup at your hotel for the weekend. Or possibly those that might want to be longer term friend.

I've lived in several large metropolitan areas; (San Francisco, Tampa/St Pete, Atlanta), and now live outside of a town with one flashing stop light and a population of about 500; 90% White, 89% American born, 96% Christian, 74% rabid MAGA Republican, with the highest church attendance of any county in this 'buckle of the Bible Belt' (there are no mosques, synagogues, temples or gurdwaras for at least 100 miles) It's absolutely the Whitest place I've ever seen. The Klan is actually still a thing here; militias, too; lets just say that diversity is not their strong suit. Yes; there's many, many more opportunities to meet like-minded folk, from bathhouses and sex clubs to LGBT hiking and cycling groups. Larger population centers tend to be diverse, multicultural, and pluralistic and therefore much more open, tolerant, and evolved; it's a wonderful opportunity to explore and become your highest self; to be the person who you've always wanted to be.
